Description

Wheel Throwing 101 is a one-time beginner class where no prior experience is required. In this hands-on class, you will learn the basics of wheel throwing, including centering, pulling the walls, and the techniques to create a functional piece, all while receiving plenty of encouragement and support.

What You'll Learn

  • The fundamentals of wheel throwing, including how to center and shape clay on the wheel.
  • How to pull the walls of your creation to form the desired shape.
  • The basics of creating a functional piece, with guidance and support throughout the process.

Supplies and Materials

  • All necessary materials and equipment will be provided during the class.

Additional Notes

  • After class, your piece will dry for a few days and then undergo its first firing in the kiln, which takes 48 hours. Once fired and glazed, it will go through a second firing to fully vitrify at 2167 degrees Fahrenheit. Once cooled, your piece will be ready for pick-up.
  • If you choose to make a functional piece, rest assured that all our glazes and clay bodies are food safe.
  • Gratuity for the instructor is included in the class price.
  • While the clay is non-staining, we recommend wearing comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little messy.

Refund Policy

Please notify us 40 hours in advance so we can coordinate with our teacher to account for material prep time or if there is a waitlist.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

Michael was incredibly patient and I never felt rushed in the 2 hours. I really appreciate that he helped me get my piece to look how I envisioned, and also kindly explained what to expect when working with clay. I’m excited to see it finished and look forward to another class!
