Marty Zelonky

Marty Zelonky  is a builder of fine furniture.  He comes to Craftsman Avenue from his studio in Connecticut where he produces studio furniture for individuals and designers on a commission basis.  His work has been shown at the White Gallery, Tivoli Artist Cooperative as well as numerous galleries throughout the North East.

Marty studied fine furniture and industrial management at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He spent time with the Master, Sam Maloof in Pasadena California, where he learned to appreciate the art of Studio Furniture design.  Marty worked as a vocational cabinet making instructor outside of Chicago for a couple of years, after which he spent five years living with the Inuit in Northwest  Alaska  where, among other things, he learned the ancient craft of sled and boat (oomiak) building.
