Lizzy W. is an amazing communication teacher. Because of her "not pushing" approach I actually started liking communication classes.

Lizzy Wallace does a great job with this series. The thought of ever taking an improv class has TERRIFIED me. The intro to improv in part one of this series has eased my fear and was actually fun. Lizzy does a great job of making everyone feel comfortable. I am sure I said some dumb or weird stuff during the games, but I never felt self-conscious about it (and everything gives me anxiety). Overall, the series helps you put things into perspective and enables you to overcome some mental hurdles that you may have.
Lizzy is super patient, genuinely kind, and generous with time and effort to help her students. I highly recommend it!

I can't tell you what I thought of the class because the class was canceled day of and I was never notified.
So after spending an hour and a half traveling up to Los Angeles and finding the building location, I then had to wait an additional 10 minutes only to be told that the class had been canceled and rescheduled for the following week. We were offered a chance at a refund as well but that would be something that could not be processed there and would instead need to be taken up with the CourseHorse website.
The lack of communication on both CourseHorse and GA was unprofessional. The assumption of an immediate reschedule only reaffirms that they believe my time is easily flexible and can revolve around their mistakes.
What's more is that GA informed us that we should not apply for classes through CourseHorse because then they are not responsible for informing us of last minute cancellations. No one wants to take responsibility for the oversight and as a result, both agencies look as if customer service is not a priority.

The class was cancelled on the morning-of, no concrete explanation given. General Assembly sent one email to myself notifying us that the class had been cancelled... a mere 2 hours before the scheduled start time (no email was sent to my 2 colleagues who were also registered for the same class). We'd received a confirmation email from Coursehorse only a couple days prior, reminding us of the class time/location.
This class was scheduled on a Saturday afternoon, already outside of normal work hours, so the fact that they waited until the very last moment to officially cancel the class is completely unacceptable. All three of us were already on the way to the class location since we are based in a different county, and because I don't have work email on my personal cell phone, I didn't even realize the class had been cancelled at all until we arrived at the empty front desk. We waited 10 minutes until a receptionist arrived to inform us that the class was no longer taking place that day. They said something vague about a change in management, and even hinted that the lack of communication wasn't General Assembly's responsibility since we booked through Coursehorse and not directly with them.
The email itself neglected to take full responsibility for the inconvenience this caused to all the registered students. It simply said that General Assembly would automatically reschedule us for the following Saturday, or issue a refund at our request. This is not nearly doing enough. Our nonprofit company had to not only pay for the class fees, but also the cost of transportation to/from downtown Los Angeles and pay for a full workday of our time. We ourselves had to block out an entire Saturday months ahead to be able to attend the class, and reschedule our whole work week around the odd hours. We cannot accept a refund because of the accounting nightmare this will cause our company; yet crediting us for a future class only makes us wary of even greater inconvenience in the future.
Not to mention, General Assembly raised the price of the class WEEKS AFTER we had registered and paid. Then Coursehorse attempted to charge us the difference in cost. This was resolved only after I said that they did NOT have my permission to charge our company credit card for the difference since we already paid what was posted at the time of registration. Our entire experience with the General Assembly/Coursehorse setup was disappointing to say the least. Thoroughly unprofessional.

Unfortunately, this class wasn't what I was expecting. The instructor, Lizzy, was great and very knowledgeable in the field of public speaking. However, the structure of the class was horrible. You can't learn public speaking without practicing it, and being lectured at for 4+ hours doesn't align with adult learning principles. Major revisions required.

Thought the class was really helpful and the instructor was great. Besides getting pointers for public speaking my goal was to have more opportunities to get in front of people to try to get over the nerves. That part I really missed

I can't say enough how much I enjoyed and gained from this class. If somebody had told me before this class how much I would improve, I wouldn't have believed them. Not only do I feel more confident in public speaking now, but I'm actually excited to do my next presentation at work.
Lizzy is an amazing teacher, motivator, and presents the material in a way that we can all relate with.

Very helpful, great tips, and an exceptional teacher.

Lizzy is an excellent teacher. She conveys valuable and usable techniques in a fun and clear way. She's also incredibly authentic and empathethic, being keenly aware of the anxiety that some of her students may have experienced before taking her course. She seems to be genuinely interested in helping her students, and her attitude and joie de vivre was a real plus, making the 5-hour course fly by.

The class was awesome! Lizzy was able to create a unique friendly atmosphere and share lots of secrets to calm yourself down whether it's a public speaking or just a small talk at a network event. I really enjoyed all the games we played to practice. Environment is very friendly and this is the best place to start even if you think that you are to shy to go for a class like that. All communications and practices are voluntarily, so if you don't feel like speak with anybody right now - there is no pressure and you can skip it without any questions.
-
Transformative and enlightening. Lizzy has an amazing way of connecting to each person in the class to bring out the best in each of us. It's also refreshing to attend a class where the instructor wants to empower you to look at public speaking differently than how most view it. I highly recommend the public speaking bootcamp if your trying to sharpen your communication skills with a group of like minded individuals that want to grow and evolve as effective speakers.
-
Lizzy is an amazing & passionate person. The class is fun and helps a lot no matter what is your level, will definitely do it again! Leo

This was such a fun class and it touched upon all the items noted in the class description. Lizzy was a great instructor - she was informative and had great energy and thoroughly answered the students' questions. I do wish that it was longer than three sessions but I think it's a good intro to communication in general. I would recommend this class to those who are looking to overcome their fear of public speaking.
-
Lizzie was an excellent coach! In a short amount of time Lizzie created a safe and encouraging environment that enabled me to get out of my comfort zone. In her lecture she gave us real world examples and the tools we could employ to help overcome fear and embrace the opportunity to share yourself with others.

Lizzy is a an excellent teacher. As a nonnative English speaker, Lizzy made it comfortable for me to open up and be vulnerable from the start. The tools that I learned from her class were invaluable and exceeded my expectations. I was feeling fearful coming to the class but empowered leaving the class. It was a great experience!
-
The classes are very well structured to take the student from basic communications techniques through group interactions, culminating with some key practices for public speaking. The instructor, Lizzy Wallace uses an improv approach to lead the class through the process with great effect.
